Again, thinking of Continuum (see other post) -
I was reading http://www.gnomestew.com/gaming-conventions/what-do-you-want-from-a-rpg-convention and in particular noted the reply:
<<<Handouts are good. When I run con games, I bring handouts for the players as well as pre-gens. My handouts are a very simplified version of the rules and combat actions. Don’t be afraid to discard anything that would be too complicated. My rules sheet is one page and has two charts–one is a short list of attack actions and one is a short list of defense actions (key word here is “short”; players don’t want to spend their time reading). >>
When I got Pendragon off the ground locally previously I had a 4 page rules handout/weapon listing/equipment listing available at a ratio of around 1 per 3 players.
But, if you wanted to crystallise Pendragon mechanics onto one (or possibly two) sides of A4 what would you put ? I am fully expecting players to walk away with this with thier character sheet - the alternative is that I laminate some help sheets and collect them in at the end of a session.
My first thougths are
a) the oaths of knighthood - they were printed in the front of the Green Knight "book of knights" to remind people of what code of conduct they are expected - by society - to live by and uphold. It's not rules but I think does underpin the whole game.
b) Unapposed rolls
c) Opposed rolls
d) Criticals, Fumbles and Values greater than 20
e) Traits and Passions
f) Glory
g) How Combat works - opposed rolls, armour, knockdown, horses.
Any comments or suggestions ?
Chris
