How much information should the players have ?

Specifically, should the players know if the enemy unit will sprint ?

Most of the time this will be irrelevent, but there are the options like pick 2 from 3 etc, when it might be relevant.

Historically, such troops were skirmishers (and note that chasing away sprinting troops has no effect on intensity) and thier modus operandi would have been visible from some distance away.

(To speed up battle game play I've been preparing some unit cards which have a facing side of:
~picture to quickly convey the troop type
~weapons listed
~armour listed
~name e.g. Crossbowmen
and I'm wondering if i should indicate if they will sprint?).

I'd just put in something like "Skirmishers".

Let the players learn what that means through play.

The cards sound great.

I do not tell them.
There are some troops that are similar in description, but some run and some do not.
It is always a surprise and worth it for me, as GM.

Not all sprinters are skirmishers, note.
Some are just peasants.

What about a hidden battle roll ? The better, the more precise info the player can get. If he ever wonders, of course, and has enough time to judge the situation...

As a habit, I roll all dice in front of everyone, as they do as well.

So do I, but in this "information" case, I am curious how you would deal with a critical failure. I would say the exact opposite of the action the unit would be taking next ^^, and the players wouldn't know...

Unless no critical failure on this roll, in this case, indeed no need to hide, they get the information, or not, period.

?
You mean by Intensity?
I'd deal by being as happy as the players

No, I meant a critical failure on a possible battle roll from a Knight to know what would be going on in the battle. But I am sorry, I don"t have "yet" this rule supplement, eagerly waiting for it to be back, so I must be missing some points :-).
