Hello there,

First posting here, I am so glad I found a forum from Greg about this Wonder of a Game.

I and my players (I am a GM) finished the Uther period, and played a few years in the Anarchy period. But I have trouble with this period, as it gets really open ended.
Any tips for the political side of the period? I have rather not limit my characters to some hard guided scenario, as I feel it would go against the feel of this anarchic period, when in my mind anything can happen, But I don't know how to make my players "feel" this period.

Moreover, many things are political in my opinion, and I always have had a hard time with politics in RPG.

So any tips are welcome, even if it means added "homeworks".

Thanks in advance :-)

The way I handle politics is to just create a bunch of NPCs and the game works itself out as the PKs interact with the NPCs. Think of it as a "sandbox" approach to politics.

Note that when I say "create" an NPC I mean create their personality, their history and their goals. I don't always create a set of stats for them.

I create several distinctive NPCs from the rest and sketch out a couple of plot trees. That is,
Aetheling A demands THIS, and if he gets it then This+1, happens, and if not then This-1, each of which have their consequences and other choices (and sometimes a choice is combat, with win or lose consequences)

one NPC is hard nosed, always following his word to the letter; another is trying to be kindly, etc., and sometimes their objectives conflict.

Thanks a lot for the tips.

I will definitely give a try to the character centered approach. Thanks again.
