At the end of the highly enjoyable Pendragon Saturday and the Battle of Camlann at Continuum, a number wanted to run through the Battle System in more detail than the con. game permitted, and so I offered to run a battle on these boards, open to anyone who wants to join in.

What will it be?
A non-GPC battle so that it is non-scripted and purely relies on the battle mechanics to reveal the outcome.

What is required to join in?
A willingness to post every day, Monday-Friday, during the duration - this is required to make it a viable prospect. After the first round which I will run step by step, I shall get you to wrap together a number of rolls in one post - some will be used, others may prove unnecessary - in order to speed the process up.

Ideally you will want a copy of the Book of the Battle so that you can consult the rules as you go - but you don't have to know the rules in advance, or have been in a battle before!

Reply to this post and let me know you're up for it. We won't start for a few days to give me the chance to catch up with stuff after the weekend and to get it set up. At some point this week I shall set up a new section for the Round Table just for the game to keep it tidy - I'l let you know when its up and where. In the meantime, polish you lances and prepare your armour!

I am a bit concerned about the everyday commitment as I don’t want to mess anyone about and am wondering how many battle rounds you looking at?

I'd like to help out. Daily might be a bit difficult though, but I'll see if I can manage it. I'll have to re-read BoB first...

oh one suggestion - I heard talk on Saturday night, after the battle, that Greg was on the verge of tweaking the system, adding or changing some elements of it. Merlin, do you think Greg would mind informing you of these changes so that when we play, we play with the most current version of the rules?

Ok, it looks like we have enough players to make this worthwhile - although still time for others to join in should they wish. Let's aim to kick off on Monday. I've prepared a new section of the forum here: http://www.gspendragon.com/roundtable/index.php?board=23.0 for this, and will start a thread for character generation today. If you can read this and post your characters by Monday, I'll try and post the introduction and begin the first round then.

Sir Pramalot asked about the rules being worked on by Greg. Greg is hesitant to release them to the wild before they are done, but it might be that we can use a few elements from them. We'll see how that works out.
