Broken this supplementary question from my earlier query (which is here (http://www.gspendragon.com/roundtable/index.php?topic=826.0))
Situation is a unit of PKs who have declared a non-charge attack action against opponents who are revealed to be sprinters, thus they resolve the combat as a "Run Them Down!" action:
Suppose... the sprinters are x3 enemies (a mob of peasants say). Even with a +10/-5 reflexive modifier on the combat rolls, the players don't fancy their odds when splitting their skill three ways so they decide to only attack one enemy each and let the other two roll their Dex unopposed to get away.
[If the peasants succeed on their Dex roll to leg it] Would those ignored enemies count as a 'loss' when tallying results for the battle round result?
My thinking is that they shouldn't count as a loss, since there is no contest (they want to get away and the knights are letting them) and this permits the knights to control their risk - but this contravenes the RAW and possibly also lets the PKs off too easily when they are supposed to be impetuously charging forward per the hoary cliche about recklessly undisciplined knights.
Thoughts?
