View Full Version : Missing girls

After an interesting series of family event rolls during the last winter phase - three of the PKs had sisters go missing last year - I'm looking to put together a side quest to build on this plot. Ideally I'd like to tue this into a real world myth or legend, but so far I'm drawing a blank. Does anyone know of any stories that feature girls disappearing? Or are there any faerie creatures particularly known for stealing young women? Since a year will have passes before the PKs have a chance to go after them, it would be better if the antagonist was a collector instead, say, sacrificing virgins.

It happened early on in my campaign. I had one girl 'eaten' by the giant in Sword Lake which allowed a passion for one of my PK's.
Another idea I had was to have a girl be captured by Saxons. In 15-20 yrs time she escapes with her 'Saxon' son and seeks refuge with the PK.
How will the PK react to having a Saxon nephew?
I hadn't thought about Fairy Tales, but I'll see if I can find something.

Prophecy is fun. You could say that a girl of a particular age and region is going to be born with a birthmark , or whatever , is going to be born with the power to wield magic , Born with startling beauty , born and will give birth to a great hero , born to tame the heart of a great villian , whatever u want....... but that someone is abducting ALL the women of that age and region to try and find the particular girl , and TESTING the girls with rituals to figure what one is the right one! Player knights might try to rescue there sister only to discover her strange destiny?
Want to complicate it further? The person that captured the girls is not evil , just misguided , and wants to fulfill his own ends , but his ends involve the downfall of a sorcerous , and that sorcerous wishes the girls death to avoid her fate? This is just one example , but it might provide the groundwork 4 a good scenario :)

Girls tend to get kidnapped by wicked knights and kept in towers for unclear nefarious reasons, until some brave knight happens along to rescue them. The giant on Mon St. Michel kidnapped noble girls and made them cook babies for him (and sometimes raped them to death). Sometimes damsels get their hearts broken by handsome young knights and spend their entire day hanging around by the road spitting on his shield or something.

What about an evil dragon kidnapping young maidens? Perhaps a bit too classic?
I guess the ideas ment before fit better into a KAP Campaign.
Saxons - 'wide spreaded multi-headed evil monster kidnapping young women and raiding the land for gold' ;)
just a matter of the point of view....

In addtion to the classics like knights or dragons kidpadding maidens, there is a satory in the GPC about a kidnapped relative that leads into the King of Castle Adventure.
And there is always the evil durid/sorceror who needs maidens to sacrifce for dark power.

I liked Palomydes idea of "testing" all the girls. Problem is that if the kidnapping is done on such a large scale, then will it attract other knights to rescue/find out what is going on ? However,as he says it could be a birthmark etc which limits the numbers.
A variant on this that I thought of was that it is the Lady of the Lake who is kidnapping the girls, and because of the passage of time in faerie and other concerns then she "forgets" to send them back.
Again on the faerie theme I thought of a travelling faerie stage show that had the girls follow them, singing and dancing etc (variant on the faerie dance that appears in the kAP books).
An Amazon Queen is kidnapping girls (and then brainwashing them) and training them into Amazon warriors in some secret glen ?
A (misguided) Knight is kidnapping the girls to act as servants etc for his daughter who he has imprisoned in a castle and only women are allowed near her.
A knight has a cursed son - a variant on the minotaur tale - and requires the girls to look after said son, play music and feed him etc, as the beauty and soft voices help keep him in check. I'd throw in some way to lift the curse for a more positive adventure, than a straightforward kill the minotaur scenario.

Thanks for the suggestions. Campaign events have carried us beyond the point where it makes sense to stage a timely rescue, so I think I'll have the women reenter the game as trophy wives to some of the PKs enemies down the road...
