I was running a battle last week and the unit commander got a crtical at the same time as I did for the Unit Intensity. I wasn't quite sure how to run it. According to the Book of Battle:

1) When the Unit Commader rolls a crtical he gets an Aopprutinity and rolls on the Opportunity table.

2) When the Intensity roll is a crtical the unit is dobule attacked.

3) If both the Unit Commader and the BAttle Intesity roll crtical (or both fumble) then a Suprise occurs, with a roll on the Surprise Table.


My question is, does the Surprise superceed the other events? Or does the Unit commader get a surprise, and opportunity and is dobule attacked?

My group managed to surprise me! We got all the way to 512 without a unit commader scoring a crtical, and last session the commader rolled 4 crticals! Three of those tied the intesity crtical, for a extraordinary battlefield experience.

I had a similar experience once Sir Mascen de Durany increased his Battle skill to 22, the suprises (and oppurtunities) became a bit more prevalent ...
