Glad you want to play on!

Ok, you start Round Four alone, but thanks to Sir Madog, mounted. What does it mean to be alone? This is what the rule book states:

Alone in Battle?
If your knight is alone on the battlefield then he is in big trouble. He acts as his own Unit commander, and has a +10 to his Unit Intensity. In every other way his battle round is exactly as normal.
His best option is to get to the rear, get disengaged, and see what his options are. This is not cowardly or shameful, but sensible. If he sees his unit, he can join it again. Otherwise, he should go to the army banner and join (or become) an impromptu reserve unit.

Your Army Intensity this round is the same as the rest of the players, 16 (see http://www.gspendragon.com/roundtable/index.php?topic=918.msg7938#msg7938)

Your Unit Intensity = Army Intensity + Battle Size Modifier + Terrain Modifiers + Battle Zone + Unit Cohesion
= 16 + 0 + 0 - 5 + 10 = 21

To determine your options, we need an opposed roll between the Unit Intensity and your Battle Skill. For the Unit Intensity I rolled 2, modified to 3, a success, but pathetic. Roll your Battle Skill and determine what you want to do accordingly from the Battle Notes.

If we can work through this by the end of tomorrow, that would be great as it tidies things up before I go away for a week.

I was a part of Madogs disordered unit. Would I add an extra +5 to unit cohesion?

To be honest, I think the +10 for being alone is sufficient, but even with another 5, you still win. What do you want to do?

I would like to withdraw.

Excuse notes, in a rush!

Ok, withdrawing gives you a +5 to your melee scores.
Against Withdraw 1 enemy from three chosen at random. My choice.
Remember those French Mercenaries from the first charge? (Opponent 16) Got them again. Mounted.
Can you make the usual rolls?

Just curious, did we do enough damage to weaken them in our first encounter?

You did indeed - as you've already scored 1 triumph against them, they are currently at 1/2 their combat score. Another Triumph and they are eliminated (although can one knight on his own do this?)

Ok, the Knights are at 1/2 skill, which brings them to 8. I rolled a 13. Your god(s) are with you!

Damage (5d6): Rolled 17 (5d6=17) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2658191/)

Not enough to cause them great harm, but a WIN nevertheless.

They rolled 7, and get through with you unscathed.
I'm going to rule that this counts as a triumph. You move back 1 Zone; are Disengaged; and reduce the Army Intensity by 2! Nice one ;D

As Sir Memnon has pointed out, I got that wrong:

From BoB:

If only one knight is attached, or the unit is made up of only a single individual, then it has no chance of triumph. If fewer than three player knights are in a game the Gamemaster should create a couple of NPCs just for this purpose. The players can take control of their “battle buddies,” who disappear afterwards until the next battle.

And so I rule this is a Unit Win with the consequences:

Unit withdraws intact 1 Zone, starts Disengaged next round
