We had a situation come up today where one of the PK's wanted to tackle an opponent. This sounded like a grapple check to me, but we hadn't sued the grapple rules before, so I opened the book and read the section on grappling. I was surprised to see that it required a skill [Grapple] that apparently starts at 0, and doesn't even show up on the character sheets. It seems to me like new knights should have at least some skill in grappling. I'm sure some of my players would have tried using it before and raised the skill if it had shown up on the character sheet. How do others handle it?

I agree that the Grapple rules are a bit of a puzzle. We haven't had much cause for them yet. The few instances where it made some sense to try a grapple we instead did opposed DEX checks; which made much sense given the specific instances involved.
