View Full Version : Household Knights & Marriage
My understanding of household knights is that they live in halls of their Lord. So what would happen if one married? And what about children? Do they all still sleep in the hall?

Short answer: yes.
Historically, household knights were not allowed to get married, hence their other name of bachelor knights.
In general, no one got married until he had an income capable of supporting a family.
William Marshall remained a bachelor knight until age 50, when his promised heiress was released to him (He had 10 children).
KAP is different.
It is assumed that a household knight's wife is given a place in his lord's household. If she is a lady, she is a lady in waiting for the countess. She would sleep in the solar, outside her lady's room.
...while he sleeps in the hall, or where ever else his duty puts him.
Kids, probably in the nursery with the others.
Thanks for that. It means that my players secondary characters can go ahead and start an alternate family line.
