Just to confirm, yep, I'm seeing the print editions of the books offered on DriveThru.

KAP 5.1: Softcover B&W (8.5" x 11")

Softcover B&W: $29.99
Hardcover B&W: $39.99
Watermarked PDF: $13.01
Softcover B&W + Watermarked PDF: $29.99
Hardcover B&W + Watermarked PDF: $53.00 $39.99

The Great Pendragon Campaign: (Dimensions not given)

Watermarked PDF: $25.00
Softcover B&W: $49.99
Watermarked PDF + Softcover B&W: $58.98

No hardcover GPC? And can anyone confirm that "B&W" is just referring to the interior?

I dunno. I'm excited about this, but at the same time I'm thinking I'd rather wait for the "official" Nocturnal printings, assuming such is still forthcoming. 40 and 50 bucks, respectively, is a really high price for B&W editions. This is Pendragon, baby! It's supposed to be vibrant, and full of pageantry. Can you imagine a grey-scale page of Heraldry images?

As of right now, I'm not seeing any of that. Once it comes up though, I'll buy the 5.1 rules (I already have the GPC). I don't generally care for pdf's anymore unless they're small enough for me to print out. Plus, my eyes can only read on a screen for so long. I may have to bite the bullet and get Land of Giants on pdf though as I haven't been able to find a hardcopy anywhere; even on Amazon and eBay. It's the only "location" sourcebook that I don't have.

Speaking of Amazon and eBay, it'll be nice that people will be able to get a hardcopy of the GPC again without having to pay the $200-$800 that people ask for it on those two sites.

Does anyone have previous experience with the printing service? How is the quality?

Funnily enough, I saw a friend who works for OneBookShelf yesterday and I asked him that very question. He said he hadn't seen any of the POD stuff yet, but KAP was one of the high profile releases and he understood that the print and binding quality was at least Lulu level.

I'm curious as to how much of an early adopter's premium there will be, in that errata will be found and corrected and improvements in printing and binding quality are likely. I'm a little bummed that after buying copies of all four of GS's... supplements? chapbooks? -- that those are being revised and corrected and printed again. I really do want to support the endeavor, but I don't want to have to buy two printed copies, one essentially the beta and then a corrected second printing.

If I wait six or nine months before I order a hardcover, will that be too late, and the POD experiment ended?

The pdf of 5.1 has been out for a while, I would think that most of the misprints and so forth have been caught by now.

We are all anxious to see the physical product.

I have no plans or desires to do another version.
As always, I will continue to play and adopt rules and rulings for the game.

Sorry to bum you out with improvements.
Here is a clue though: save them until the new ones are out.
Then eBay them--those GSPendragon items will never be seen again.

Carpe diem, my friend.

It refers to the interior, not covers (see review link below). It would be very dissapointing to have B&W considering high price (I hope a nice part of this money go to Greg's pockets!). Anyway, KAP is actually B&W, if you see PDF. As far as I know just GM Characters supplement includes color shields.

I have order one KAP 5.1 copy, when it arrives (I live in Chile, so don't expect to be soon) I will post a little review about quality. For now, I've found this review (http://oldguyrpg.blogspot.com/2010/12/review-drivethrurpgcoms-print-on-demand.html) of TGPC printed on demand by DriveThruRPG, maybe you'll find it useful.

Regards my friends!

Actually, that's what I meant regarding the interior. I think the price is far too high for a B&W (interior) book.

I've found this review of TGPC...

Now that's very interesting. Did you notice the back cover? It's the old version, complete with Arthaus's logo and website addy, and nothing about Nocturnal. Doesn't the back cover from the PDF have the newer info?

Freakin' huge margins. Lots of wasted space, and the inner text is folding into the middle where it's hard to read. Almost looks like you could re-set the text to make use of all that empty space and cut the size of the book in half. :)

Heh, yeah, there ya go. The Great Pendragon Campaign: Digest Edition! (chuckle)

There is Noctunal's logo on the backcover of KAP 5.1 (pdf).

For the GPC, there is only softcover, will a hardcover edition be available too or only softcover? I intend to buy both books but have a little preference for hardcover books.

PS: sorry for my bad English, I don't practice often

I just received the KAP 5.1 book in softcover today and it looks good. The colors on the covers seem a bit duller than the pdf but are still pretty. The binding seems good, seems like the same quality of my Burning Wheel books which have lasted me five years with no problems. Right now it doesn't lay open like my KAP 4th or Boy king books but then again I can't remember what they were like before 10+ years of being broken in. Printing inside is top notch. Well worth the price.

Drive Thru was awesome too, I bought the pdf two days before the POD was announced and they let me get the softcover for the reduced pod+pdf price. Which is above and beyond good service in my opinion.

I didn't grab a copy of GPC, since I still have my original, but it should be just as good as the 5.1. I can't wait till Nocturnal gets the Book of Knights and Ladies up because I missed out on that in the past. It's greta stuff.

Just got my hardback KAP 5.1 today. Binding seems okay; we'll see how it stands up. Colors seems good but there's a lot of blue and darker earthy colors so it's the Lady of the Lake who really stands out in the piece. All in all I think it looks pretty sharp.

I know the book is largely just a cleanup of 5.0 but was wondering if there's anything of specific import that I should take immediate note of.

[EDIT] Er, or I could just go the the "What's New" page and look there...

The 5.1 PDF doesn't have any bookmarks -- since the Nocturnal site is MIA, I thought to ask here: any idea if it may at some point be updates with at least chapter-level bookmarks?

I'd be happy to add the bookmarks myself; but, the purchased files are locked.

Thanks for your offer ewilde1968, maybe Greg could send you a clean copy, he is very happy to have volunteers. It would be very nice to have an updated PDF with bookmarks.

Doing so right now.

It might take me a few weeks to get it done, what with a job and twin toddlers banging around.

I sent a query weeks ago to the publisher and never heard a response. Let me know if you actually want me to do something here. I've got a LOOONNGGG plane flight this weekend and nothing better to do than drink whiskey and add bookmarks to a PDF if you want.
