Since I posted my sacrifice shield rule over on the other thread, I thought I'd post my house rules for certain weapons here.
They started with my dislike of a shield being worthless versus a flail--and grew from there.
Instead of the usual +1d6 Damage versus certain armours (and the flail's ability to totally ignore shields), I substitute the following...
AXE: Shield -3AV (i.e., a shield's armour value (AV) is treated as being 3 lower when defending against an axe--so your typical shield would only block 3 points instead of 6).
MACE: Chain -3AV
HAMMER: Plate -3AV
FLAIL: Shield -3AV and Chain -3AV; On a "1", hit an adjacent ally for full damage, else hit self for half-damage
