When it seems necessary, I am going to reply to some questions or comments with the acronym
YGWV

Fans of my other works will recognize it as "your Glorantha will vary."
Here is means Your Game Will Vary.

What this means is that I do not expect everyone to use all the material that I write.
In fact, it may be impossible for someone to keep track of it all.
But in fact, I do not always use it all, and I absolutely do not expect every gamemaster to do so.

I expect every gamemaster to change, alter and adapt his or her game to whatever is desired by the game group. That is why it says "will vary."

The only condition that I place is that anyone who submits material for submission must keep it within my published canon, for the sake of consistancy.
Of course, anyone who publishes fan material is outside of this condition.

Enjoy!

What I find fascinating is how many times a campaign/scenario be run, something is usually/always different. First and foremost the gamemaster will influence and color the campaign by deciding how much politics, religion, faerie, pagan, and region in which players start are handled. Is King Arthur the center of the campaign, or is it just the background?

Then, what rules will be strictly enforced and what rules will be more flexible. As a gamemaster of 30+ years experience, I have run many campaigns using the same rule systems and the campaign is completely different simply because the players and what they want are different.

YGWV is a simple statement, but quite powerful in its application. Rather than quibble over rules that to some are not that important and absolute to others is where some boards/forums go up in flames. Thankfully, I have not been involved in one regarding Pendragon. I have some players who absolute detest the combat system, others who want to throw the skill system out with the kitchen sink, and yet absolutely adore the conflicting traits and passions, but all of them love the story behind their characters and the storyline that is created. When a player crosses a line, there is discussion and sometimes, that person decides to move on. At others, they accept the ruling and we agree to disagree.

After all, what is more important, the game or the absolute adherence to something we don't like? House rules exist for a reason.

Humbly submitted,
Robert Schroeder

Ok well my take on this is I love the fact that Meaning you "ie Greg Stafford" are in fact so open minded and have the attitude that you do about the fact that KAP is Designed for Your Game Will Vary weather you planed it this way of it just happened is cool! It does make it for us fans enjoyable game to be able to tweak the campaign to fit what you need so long as you keep in the Arthurian style and you run a good convincing game for your players to have fun in. Also their are many books that have influences and different takes and as you said earlier a KAP has a differentiated Time Line that we should be using. But what books that really influence the game are your original works you published and those of green knight publishing I know not yours but still carried on the game.

I try to stick to the cannon of these books more then any other except for trying to tie it to more historical events and adding my family's Genealogy/history with several of the Legendre of the books written by Various Arthur's for back ground and or more types of adventures I could possible run. I am now compiling from your website all the most resent docs and works you did, just so I can have them in my note book. Love the new Lands and Leaders of Pendagon took what I needed for my campaign.

I like your document on creating a minor clan's you did back in the 1990's this has had a major influence on my campaign and the doc on the Templar's in Pendragon also influenced the creation of three knight Templar orders in my campaign world of KAP.

I guess what I am trying to say is thank you for crating an awesome game, thanks you for being so nice to us fans who love and play the game and thanks for just being you Greg! Not Many Game designers/Arthur's/Inventor's are as appreciable as you are on their games as you have been and I personally thank you for that.
