I'm breaking my ideas into a number of parts to make them easier to read and commend on

QUICK CHARACTER CREATION
Most of what a GM needs to know about a character can be determined quickly. Certain traits are not really independent. Some of them should be in clusters and at least initially the same. Here's my version of “order out of trait chaos”. Passions are assumed to be in a range of 3d6 and traits a natural range of 1-19.

ROLL ONE
1-2 = Foul: Arbitrary; Deceitful and Mistrust all 13+
3-4 = Common: Just/Arbitrary; Honest/Deceitful; Trusting/Mistrust all 10.
5-6 = Fair: Just; Honest; Trusting all 13+ and Honor 13.

ROLL TWO
1-2 = Cold: Selfish; Cruel; Unforgiving all 13+.
3-4 = Lukewarm: Generous/Selfish; Merciful/Cruel; Forgiving/Vengeful all 10.
5-6 = Warm: Generous; Merciful; Forgiving all 13+.

OPTIONAL
Noble PK and NPC who raise: Just; Honest; Trusting; Generous; Merciful and Forgiving to a total of 80 gain the Nobility bonus of +100 glory per year. They inspire: Justice; Honesty; Mercy; Generosity and Forgiveness and their bonus is to raise by 3 the trait rolls of any characters dealing dealing with them.

Although it may be make more sense that certain traits are linked, I like the fact that they are split. That way you can have a man that is arbitrary, but extremely honest about it. It creates the drama of conflicting traits and passions, which I see as the foundation of the game.

Linking traits to the hospitality passion I do not see that much. A cruel knight can be extremely hospitable. As long as you are his guest there is nothing to it, but do not expect mercy on the battlefield. the same goes for the other traits. Due to the different traits and passions a person can seem to act 'out of character' in certain conditions.

As for honor at first glance I thought I would agree, but again thinking about it I would not do this. Although an Arbitrary or Deceitful character may act more dishonorable a high honor combined by a high Arbitrary or Deceitful trait would be in conflict with himself when honesty or justice is in question.
