Combed through the older posts/threads about house-rules for Aging and Glory bonuses because I saw the same issue possible. Granted, most knights die violent deaths but its possible to stick around for a long time if you don't.

The solution from this thread seemed to change the Aging table...

Does anyone think that increasing the "cost" to increase attributes through Glory is unbalancing? An ascending scale based on age...

EXAMPLE: The cost to increase an Attribute is based on the decade past age 30/35 (fourth decade). It would cost the usual 1 Bonus Point from age 21-39. At age 40, it would be 1+1 Bonus Point (total of 2). At age 50, 1+1+1 for a total of three Bonus Points.

Thoughts?

It's an alternative, definitely. The only drawback I can see is that it requires some bookkeeping, i.e. that 50 year old knight must note down that he has SIZ 15 and a third (so to speak), and then two-thirds after his next Glory step. So I guess I think it's just easier to increase the lethality of the Aging Table. (Your system would make knights keep well, but have a hard time improve, though).

Whoops, should have mentioned that, since you're still only increasing an attribute by 1, you would be able to use multiple Bonus Points for a single stat in a single year.

Sorry, you've lost me. What is "multiple Bonus Points"? I thought you were referring to the increase a PK gets after having earned 1000 Glory.

I assumed Glory Points is what Kilgs were referring to, as well, but as there is no limit even normally on how many Glory Points can be used for any single purpose, there is no need for such an additional houserule. And one only gets one training point in Winter Phase, which cannot be used to raise the Stats after 35 (21 for SIZ), so that is not an issue, either.

Hmm, I guess I thought Bonus Points from Glory could only be applied 1 at a time to a particular trait. Haven't read over that part too well apparently. Either way, the theory/house rule still would be...

By adding a +1 per decade after 35, you make restoring attributes possible but more expensive and hence less available. So eventually, someone will die or become obsolete.
