While working on the wife generator (http://nocturnal-media.com/forum/index.php?topic=2076.0), it occured to me to start making up some house rules for adultery as well. In particular, this might come up with the more Lustful wives, but even normal ones who are neglected/abused by their husbands might seek solace in another man's arms.

ADULTERY

Base chance: 0
Wife's Chasteness:
If Frigid: -10 (Chaste 20+)
If Chaste: -5 (Chaste 16+)
If Hot-Blooded: +5 (Lustful 13+)
If Shameless: +10 (Lustful 16+)
If Domineering, add 2 away from 0 (-5 becomes -7) (Proud 16+: More likely to have her own way.)
If Timid, add 2 towards 0 (+5 becomes +3) (Modest 16+: More likely to veer towards the societal norm.)
If Wife is Unhappy: +1d3 (That is Unhappy with a capital U. Also, do not double dip. A Chaste wife would no doubt be unhappy if her Lustful husband is cheating on her with the local milkmaids, but that is already accounted for in the Trait calculation.)
Wife's Love/Hate(Husband):
Has Love/Hate(Husband): -2/+2
Has Love/Hate(Husband) more than 15: -5/+5
Wife's APP (i.e. how many men will attempt to seduce her):
Less than 9: -3
Less than 12: -1
More than 16: +1
More than 19: +3
Husband's APP:
Less than 9: +1 / APP less than 9
APP higher than 12: -2
APP higher than 15: -5
Husband's Glory:
More than 4000: -1
More than 8000: -3
More than 12000: -5
Husband's Duties:
Mostly home (normal knight): 0
Often away (wartime, adventuring, most PKs): +1
Mostly away (overseas war, questing knight home for winter, PKs doing lots of adventuring): +3
Husband's Famous Traits (i.e. Wife's risk analysis: how serious are the consequences going to be if caught):
Forgiving/Vengeful: +1/-3
Trusting/Suspicious: +1/-3
Merciful/Cruel: +1 / +-3 (if wife is equal or domineering, she hates her cruel husband and is likely to try to have her revenge by cheating on him; otherwise, she is afraid of him and less likely to risk it)
Chaste/Lustful: -3/+1 (Chaste wives appreciate a faithful husband and resent a cheating one, and thus are more likely to go 'well if he does it, why shouldn't I?'. Note: flip the modifiers for Hot-Blooded & Shameless; less likely to cheat if gets lots of sex at home = +1/-3.)

Roll 1d20 against the modifier chance, if 0 or higher. On a critical or a success, she is committing an adultery. On a failure, fumble or a no-roll she stays faithful. On a fumble, she is rumored to be unfaithful, quite falsely! Note, she might still stray as the result of family events and such.

Example 1: A totally average Anne's chance of cheat on her husband, Manny the Moderate, is 0. There might be rumors of her faithfulness, but she is innocent. Unless such rumors are due to a family event in which case she might also be guilty.

Example 2: The scarred, famous PK (APP 7, Glory 9000) marries a beautiful, strong-willed heiress (APP 18, Equal to the husband) for her lands and is a bit of a bore whilst wooing (or rather not wooing) her. Furthermore, he pretty much sidelines her from the decision making of the manor, rebuffing her attempts to contribute. Now, thanks to his rather unromantic approach, she is not in Love. On the other hand, he has not really done much to earn real Hate either. So the GM decides that she is Unhappy with her marriage. The modifiers come down as: +2-3+1+1d3 = 1d3. Furthermore, if the PK is adventuring as tends to be the norm, the chance might rise to 1d3+1.

Example 3: The same PK as in above does mend his ways and treats his wife more as a partner in the family business, giving her an equal say on how the family money is to be spent (higher maintenance rather than a new warhorse, for example). Thus, she is no longer Unhappy with him, and the chance comes down to 0 (or 1, if he is adventuring; she might get lonely and succumb to one of the many handsome young knights trying to seduce her).

Example 4: A pagan, handsome and glorious PK (APP: 13, Glory 9000) with Famous Lustful & Vengeful marries a Pictish Warrior Princess (APP 20, Domineering & Shameless (Proud 16+, Lustful 16+) whose Love he has managed to gain. She is not one to sit at home but wants to adventure as well, and the PK lets her, knowing that he'd otherwise have to lock his fiery wife up which might be hazardous to his future health, too. The modifiers come down as: -2 (husband's app) - 3 (glory) - 3 (lustful with a lustful wife) - 3 (vengeful, unlikely to forgive an adulteress) + 3 (wife's app, men flirt with her all the time) + 12 (Shameless & Domineering wife: she will sleep with whomever she chooses!) - 5 (assuming Love 16+ due to the PK's high Glory) + 0 (even while the PK adventures, the wife is with him, so it is equivalent to 'at home') = -1! He is able to keep this fiery, passionate woman from straying. If he had decided to leave her home, the Duty modifier would have been +1, she'd be Unhappy, and her Love(Husband) would likely be decreased each year. So the final chance of adultery would be: 1d3 + 3 (once the Love drops below 16).

Example 5: A hot-blooded (Lustful 13+), average looking wife is married to an exemplar Christian Knight with average looks and some glory (4000+). He is often away adventuring, but he has been a good husband and she is in Love, although not 16+. Her chance of adultery would be: -1 (glory) + 5 (hot-blooded) - 2 (in Love) + 3 (Husband's Famous Chaste, Forgiving & Merciful: she is not getting her desires met at home, and her husband is likely to forgive her if she gets caught) +1 (assuming adventuring PK) = 6. So chances are that she would succumb at some point, although the husband's increase in Glory might counteract this chance a bit.
