Below are the house rules I'm using currently. Most of these are changes I would like to see incorporated into KAP 6. Note that some of them are in the (more or less) official errata, and that some of them have been stolen from members of this forum.

I have made my own Book of Knights, too, but will post that in a separate topic.

Chapter Four
• CLARIFICATION: Passions are ever only rolled for Inspiration. (Exception: See Snap out of it). That is, they are never rolled as Traits, or opposed other Passions or whatever.
• CHANGE: Fear is not passion. It is a Directed Trait, i.e. Cowardly [xxx]. See this thread for my argument: http://nocturnal-media.com/forum/index.php?topic=1399.msg11066#msg11066.
• CHANGE: Loyalty (vassals) is not used. This just adds to the number of passions. When is a Lord ever impassioned for the sake of his vassals? It’s not really proper for the game, if Passions are only ever used for Inspiration (as RAW).
• CLARIFICATION: Love (spouse) is generally only used if 1) the was a love before the marriage or 2) the character feels more or less for his wife than for the rest of his family. Use Love (family) for a character’s love for his wife.
• CHANGE: The Swimming skill is not used. It is replaces with a DEX-roll. See this thread for my argument: http://nocturnal-media.com/forum/index.php?topic=1399.msg11066#msg11066
• CHANGE: Axe and Great Axe deal +1d6 damage vs shields. This is just simpler and quicker.
• CLARIFICATION: The bonus some weapons gives vs some opponents (axe vs shield, mace vs chain, etc) are not doubled on a critical. The +1d6 from a Great Weapon is.

Chapter Five
• CLARIFICATION: Knights do not get +5 to weapon skills while unarmored. This is in the errata.
• CHANGE: No Glory is gained for Traits and Passions over 15. Glory is gained for Ideals. This is in the errata.
• CHANGE: Clothing is not halved if bought the same year. Clothing never falls below the following minimum:
o Poor: £1/2
o Ordinary: £1
o Rich: £2
o Superlative: £3
• CHANGE: Marriage below class; no roll for Loyalty. Unless the PK is out of favor, shamed, has low Loyalty (lord) or some such, marriage is granted.
• CHANGE: The Childbirth Table is replaced with the one below:
Childbirth Table
2d6 Roll + modifiers below Result
7 or lower No Birth
8 or higher Child is born
Modifiers:
• Superlative + 2
• Rich + 1
• Poor - 1
• Impoverished - 2
Natural 2: Mother Dies AND Child is born, BUT Roll 1d6, even = Child lives
Natural 12: Twins are born
The lethality of the table in the rules is ridiculous. It’s more dangerous to be a wife than to be knight. This change addresses that issue. It also generates fewer children, for smaller families.
• CHANGE: Child survival is rolled for seven year olds and younger. From eight, children are safe. This rule is in the Book of Estate.
• CHANGE: Characters gain 5 points in skills instead of 1d6+1. See this thread for my argument: http://nocturnal-media.com/forum/index.php?topic=1399.msg11066#msg11066
• CHANGE: No Trait can be trained above 20. No Passion can be trained above 19. I never got that it’s the other way around. Passions that can’t be fumbled are so valuable in this game, while a Trait on 20 is, well, not really a big deal. This way, you need luck or Glory to get a Passion that is safe from a Fumble. That should cost.
• CHANGE: Glory cannot increase an attribute above “cultural maximum”.

Chapter Six
• CHANGE: While grappling, if the attacker is holding an opponent ”immobilized” (as per the second or third bullet on page 118) and wins the STR vs STR roll next turn, he may remove the opponents helmet. In any subsequent turns, he is considered have drawn his dagger. The opponent must make a Valorous roll or surrender in the Declaration Phase. If the opponent do not surrender, and the attacker wins another STR vs STR he can do dagger damage to the victim, who is considered unarmored (magic armor protects as usual).
• CLARIFICATION (CHANGE?): A target of a berserk attack that has already declared an action may change action to one of the two options listed on p. 119.

Appendix One
• CHANGE: To qualify as a Chivalric knight, 96 points in the bullet-traits are needed. See http://nocturnal-media.com/forum/index.php?topic=1437.0
• CLARIFICATION: Great swords do not break Swords on a Tie. See http://nocturnal-media.com/forum/index.php?topic=1437.0.

Appendix Two
• CHANGE: The stat’s for Boar is for a VERY large specimen. Usually the Small or Medium Boar from Lordly Domanins is used instead.

Appendix Three
• CHANGE: The “Your Own Land” and “Vassal Service” solos are changed, see separate file.

Appendix Six
• CHANGE: No Glory is gained for holding land or castles (the Glory for that is included in the one-time Glory for the title or office associated with that land and/or castle).
• CHANGE: Annual Glory is received equal to the amount spent in £ for upkeep (so £13 or more for a Superlative knight). This applies only to PKs that pay for their own upkeep (i.e. not for Household knights).
• CHANGE: Conspicuous Consumption garners 10 Glory per £ spent for the first £10, and then 1 Glory per £ (on an annual basis).

Other Stuff
• CHANGE: The Pugnacious knightly ideal is use, see separate file.
