ok since 3rd ed came out I've bean tinkering with a skill that at the moment I call "Campaigning", it's kind of like Industry only for Knights (or more correctly their Squires) only with some elements of Stewardship, with Campaigning Weapons, Armor and other gear can be tended and minor if only temporary repairs made, clothing patched (may not be pretty but it's effective), Shields painted and so on. the Stewardship elements are to do with maintaining the Knights coffers wile away from home and not calling upon Hospitality by avoiding the"Stupid Rich Peoples Tax" that commoners tend to put on when dealing with Knights, its also used to find items not readily available (due to shortages or rarity) or not on the open market (like stuff normally restricted to nobility when their is no "Nobles Quarter Market").
normally I start the skill ar either 2 or 5 for squires, but insist that a PC Knight have it at 5 minimum.

Maybe I am misinterpreting the description. But isn't this just a squire roll? Perhaps with a penalty...

The Industry part would be, I agree with Gilmere, just a squire roll; taking care of knight's stuff is what they are supposed to be doing.
As for the Stewardship part, that sounds suspiciously like... ew... Commerce. :P You know, the haggling and stuff that is the province of those shifty merchants.
In other words, I don't see a need for that skill. If I really had to, I'd just use Stewardship and be done with it. :)

it's not really Commerce because the Knight Mercenary or Squire wouldn't haggle, they just wont let themselves get taken for a ride, and they know how to ask for the "Secret menu" items wile shopping.
the way we've interpreted the Squire roll is that's the squire knowing when to do something, then magically having the minimum skill to do it right if it's not a skill listed on their short form sheet (like 1st aid to care for the knights wounds or horsemanship to tend the horses). "Campaigning" covers most of the other stuff.

I am not seeing the need.
Finding the best man for thecdeal. I would say roll Folk lore. I use this skill as a way to interpret the ramblings of commoners and picking up rumours and such.
The maintenance of gear is so ething I assume is done. If I need a score I use the squire skill.
The skills mentioned on the char sheet I never use. Only when a squire has a special I mention it.
Example. One of the PKs got a squire that was a thrird son and had entered a monestary. A few years later his brothers died and his father decided to sqyire him. He had a high first aid and even a chirurgery skill.
