My player suggested this as a joke, but I loved it so much it's now an official house rule for us:

Pleasant Little Pond
Cost: 1L if near a source of running water, 2L if not.
Maintenance: None if near a source of running water, 1L if not.

It's a pleasant little pond. Check Swimming. Also suitable for brooding and melancholy; check Romance in appropriate Periods.

I'd probably make the Player choose which check he wants: Is his knight happily splashing around or brooding under the shade of a willow tree?

Cute. I might even use it. But I agree with Morien...frivolity or brooding in any given year...not both.
