I've got one system for weather determination in the 5.1 rulebook, one in GPC, and one for determining effects in BotE. I'm thinking about just adopting something like this:

The GM rolls 1D20 to determine the weather for this year:

1-2 Great weather (+1£ income; a successful Stewardship roll increases this by £2)
3-7 Good weather (+1£ income)
8-13 Passable weather
14-18 Bad weather (note its occurrence and number of years it’s been bad)
19-20 Really bad weather (as Bad weather, plus lose 1£ income, save with successful Stewardship roll)

(You can then insert the GPC modifiers on top of that.)

What do you think?

I'd make it symmetric. Bad weather is -£1 and Really Bad weather is -£2 unless a Stewardship roll is made, in which case it is -£1. As it is currently, you have a much higher chance of extra money than the opposite. Also, bad weather doesn't seem to do anything. You track it but it doesn't say what is the outcome?

Note that BotE gives the effects of raiding directly to the income, which makes sense. If you get raided you get raided and lose some stuff. So it would not add to the weather roll anymore (I'd have to remind myself of the GPC rolling since I do not use it).

EDIT:
Here is what I use in our campaigns: http://nocturnalmediaforum.com/iecarus/forum/showthread.php?2234-Harvests-Raids-Pestilence-and-Wasteland&p=18904&viewfull=1#post18904

BotE, p. 46, says there's no effect on the knight's level of maintenance from bad weather for the first three years, and I was trying to incorporate that.

Yes, I would probably incorporate in raiding in the manner you're discussing.

Thank you! How do you determine the weather for a given year in this system?

Ah, OK. That would work, too, but if I were to incorporate variable income due to the weather, I'd lower the income straight away on bad weather and save myself the trouble of tracking it year to year.

Normally: 3d6+5
Pax Arthuriana can give -1d6 or up to -2d6 during early Tournament, when everything is going great.
Germination increases the income level automatically, ensuring good harvests all around Britain. Or it may have been two steps. I forget which way I GMed. I think two steps, since it is a big deal.
